Eight-year-old girl says thanks to NHS and key workers with ‘awesome’ window display

A Chesterfield schoolgirl is helping to spread love to our key workers and communities with a special, personalised, window display, thanking key workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Lots of children have been producing brilliant artwork and displays in their windows to show thanks to key workers helping to keep us safe during the lockdown, and Grace Cooper came up with the idea of putting love hearts on her front window display.

But they’re not just an hearts. Each heart features a name of a key worker and the display has attracted much attention online too.

Grace’s mum, Lauren Liggatt, is a key worker at Ability Youth Care in Chesterfield and said that the display originally started as a way to keep busy during lockdown.

“Initially we wanted to create a display in the window to beat the boredom. Grace wanted to put names of key workers on the love hearts. We started with friends and family, but since it went on Facebook it has all gone a bit crazy.

We’ve got hundreds of names now and I’ve got a huge pile which I need to put up. We’ve filled one window and moving on to another one.

Grace is really pleased with it and I am so proud of her. She said she wanted to thank the people who are working to keep us safe and well, and that is so nice of her.

The response we’ve had has been awesome and people seem to love Grace’s idea”
